Pitbull, Univision, and Academica Partner to Equip Students with Tablets in Predominantly Hispanic Communities

Academica, Univision, and globally recognized superstar Pitbull recently partnered to donate 1000 Amazon Fire tablets to students nationwide. These tablets are being distributed at 18 charter schools which are located in predominantly Hispanic communities. This effort comes at a time when more students than ever before are transitioning to methods of remote learning and are employing tools like Academica’s Digital Education Operating System.

Univision Communications Inc is the leading Hispanic media company in the United States. Jessica Rodriguez, the CMO and president of Entertainment of Univision, said “We are thrilled to help provide Latino families across the country with the necessary resources their children need to succeed in this new educational reality.”

Academica, one of the largest charter school support organizations in the U.S., has partnered with Pitbull (real name Armando Christian Perez) in the past regarding the Sports Leadership and Management (SLAM) network of non-profit charter schools, which he created in 2003. The SLAM schools operate across the country, preparing students for college and for careers in the sports industry.

“It’s an honor to join forces with Univision, Academica, and SLAM to make sure we are supporting the next generations by investing in their education,” Pitbull said. “We have to keep moving forward despite how tough it gets out there, and a good education is the best way to achieve this. These students are the future of our country, the world, and it’s an honor for me to be a part of this essential initiative.”
